Controllability of Pentana-Type Companies in Mobile Operations. Volume 3: Artillery Support

Abstract

This volume reports on the requirements for and employment of artillery in support of a PENTANA-type combat group, as determined during the subject field experiment. An artillery platoon of four weapons, simulating a battery of eight tubes, was employed in support of the PENTANA-type rifle company during simulated combat operations against a mechanized Aggressor task force. Conclusions are based on the fire mission data and military observations obtained in the field.
