CHEMICALLY ACTIVATED PRESSURE SINTERING OF OXIDES.

Abstract

Aspects of pressure calcintering as a ceramic forming method have been studied with emphasis on the nature of the precursor and the interactions between the product solid and gas. Connections with metal systems and superplasticity are discussed. Work is extended on the mixing and testing of composite materials as a preliminary to the use of pressure calcintering as a method of producing fiber reinforced ceramics. (Author)
