THE HEMOLYTIC PROPERTIES OF DRIED PLAGUE BACILLI

Abstract

In studying the relationship between plague hemolysin with the bacterial cell it became necessary to subject washed plague bacilli to drying for their subsequent fractionization. It was found in preliminary experiments that dried plague bacilli are capable of inducing lysis of washed erythrocytes of guinea pigs. This study presents data on the hemolytic activity of dried plague bacilli before and after their fractionization.
