THEORY OF PITCH STEERING FOR ASCENT GUIDANCE.

Abstract

The pitch steering law for a class of linear explicit steering problems is examined. New analytical results are presented which provide greater insight into this class of explicit steering. These results represent a distinct departure from the earlier analytical work in this area. The three fundamental contributions of this work are: (1) a detailed analytical solution and a block diagram for the general equation governing the class of explicit steering laws examined; (2) a clarification of relationships between open-loop, closed-loop and combination open- and closed-loop steering laws; and (3) a basis for synthesizing new steering laws.
