STORABLE CONCENTRATED HYDROGEN PEROXIDE.

Abstract

The samples of HP which have been further purified by ion-exchange, distillation or recrystallization have been placed in storage at 25 C along with stabilized samples prepared under a previous contract. Samples have been stored in Aclar lined vessels and tin plated aluminum or steel vessels in addition to Pyrex vessels for comparison of the relative activities of these surfaces toward decomposition of HP. Two vessels of type 1260 aluminum previously in use with HP in storage have been heat-treated with HP in order to reduce their surface activity and have been refilled with HP and returned to storage. The HP which had been in storage in one of these vessels was reclaimed by ion-exchange treatment and returned to storage as a test of the usefulness of the process. Samples will be observed for one year or more and their decomposition rates will be measured. (Author)
