BASIC CONCEPTS FOR FUTURE COMMAND CONTROL SYSTEM PLANNING.
Abstract
This report discusses the probable nature of the future natural and political environment and of the friendly and hostile military forces that may be available for operations in that environment, and reviews the criteria by which the quality of the means for exercising command control over the forces may be judged. It then considers the manner in which new kinds of information-handling equipment and new techniques for man-machine interaction can facilitate the introduction of new command organizational structures and operating procedures to better cope with the greater speed and complexity of future military operations. The report concludes with a discussion of new system planning techniques that will facilitate the development of these new information-handling systems.
