GAS-METAL REACTION KINETICS BY PULSED BEAM-MASS SPECTROMETRY.

Abstract

The work described in this report concerns the development of a pulsed molecular beam-mass spectrometric technique for studying the kinetics of chemical reactions occuring at a gas-metal interface. Improvements in the experimental apparatus, especially in the signal detection system, are described. Application to the tungsten-oxygen interaction is described and specified results for desorption of oxygen atoms from the tungsten surface are presented. (Author)
