A REVISED METHOD OF COMPUTING THE OVERPRESSURE ISOBARS IN THE BLAST FIELD OF ARTILLERY.

Abstract

Recognizing the need for a simpler and more exact computational procedure for locating the peak static overpressure isobars in the blast field of artillery, the authors have prepared a computer program written in FORTRAN, to accomplish this. The program requires interior ballistic data, cannon dimensions, and muzzle brake data. Polar coordinates (with the center of muzzle at zero degree quadrant elevation as a pole) are printed for each of nine isobars. The 105mm XM103 cannon is taken as an example. Computed isobars are compared with experimental values under a variety of conditions. (Author)
