INVESTIGATION OF A 30,000 RPM TURBINE-DRIVEN HYDRAULIC PUMP.

Abstract

Results of the eighth quarter effort on the program to develop a high-temperature turbine-speed variable-displacement hydraulic pump are reported. Fabrication of the pump was approximately 90 percent completed. A deformable cam ring was diffusion bonded and prepared for machining. The test stand was operated at speeds to 18,000 rpm. Difficulty was encountered, and tilting pad bearings were installed in the speed increaser to avoid half-frequency whirl.
