TEN THOUSAND-BARREL BULK-FUEL HASTY STORAGE RESERVOIR.

Abstract

This Technical Information Report describes the development of a 10,000 barrel, envelope-type, embankment-supported, bulk-fuel hasty storage reservoir, which is one segment of a comprehensive fuel-handling equipment development program. The current design of the reservoir calls for a 32-ounce-per-square-yard, nitrile-coated nylon fabric. Empty, it is 184 by 49 feet and weighs about 4,000 pounds; filled its top is 180 by 45 feet, its bottom 150 by 17 feet, and its depth 13 feet. It is installed in a pit made by excavating or erecting earthen embankments. The reservoir is usable with both high- and low-pressure pumping systems. It is transportable by C-124 aircraft or ground transport vehicles and will be used in the field army area until semipermanent tanks can be built. Engineering-service tests of the reservoirs are to be completed about July 1968. (Author)
