DIGITAL DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM FOR UNDERWATER ACOUSTIC SIMULATOR,

Abstract

The paper describes the design of a data acquisition system for converting underwater signal pulses into digital representation for recording on an incremental magnetic tape. The analog and digital tape recorders and the power supplies were purchased; whereas, all the other units of the system were designed and developed for this particular system. Integrated circuits were used for all the digital circuits and discrete components for the analog circuits. The system is capable of handling 3 to 400 microsecond wide pulses of a carrier frequency between 12 kiloHertz and 10 megaHertz with a repetition rate of up to 576 pulses per second. A maximum of 10 samples are taken and converted into 6-bit digital words with a resolution of 1 in 64. (Author)
