A VARIABLE FREQUENCY LINEAR DISPLACEMENT MEASURING SYSTEM.

Abstract

A linear displacement and velocity measuring system was designed and fabricated. The transducing system used a linearly tapered ferrite core to control the frequency of a stable oscillator. Oscillator output was discriminated to provide a dc voltage proportional to displacement of the ferrite core. Displacement output was differentiated to provide a velocity output. Design goal of the system was to provide displacement and velocity data for high-shock conditions and rapid translational rates. Testing under simulated high-shock conditions indicates substantial attainment of the design objectives. (Author)
