1 KW KU-BAND PULSED COAXIAL MAGNETRON.
Abstract
The objective of this contract is to design and develop a 1 kw peak pulsed power output, tunable, Ku-band, coaxial magnetron. This document reflects in its requirements the full benefits to be derived from utilizing the CEM coaxial magnetron principle. Additionally, it specifies a tube totally compatible with an existing system. During the third report period, effort was directed toward the specification and construction of hot tube models containing the 24 vane anode design. In order to specify this new design a parallel effort was instituted to obtain supporting cold test data and to provide the required tools and fixtures. Of particular importance was the necessity of providing a rugged cathode structure which would perform satisfactorily with specification heater input power. Further effort was required to incorporate features in this new design which would avoid the mechanical problems encountered in the fabrication of the initial tubes. Four hot tube models of the new configuration have been constructed and evaluated. The purpose of this publication is to report the progress made in these areas.
