RESEARCH ON HYDRAZINE DECOMPOSITION,

Abstract

A 24-month program has been initiated to determine the stability of liquid hydrazine, its decomposition mechanism, and the effect of impurities on decomposition. Liquid-phase decomposition studies are being conducted in glass capillaries at 300, 350, and 400 F. Seven hydrazine samples have been analyzed for major and trace impurities. In addition to the expected major impurities (water, ammonia, and aniline) several trace impurities have been found in the 100 to 400 ppm range.
