ADAPTATION TO MUSCULAR EFFORT,

Abstract

Adaptation to muscular effort was investigated at the subjective level by matching perceived fatigue with white noise. The psychophysical function for loudness was used to construct individual adaptation functions. The emphasis is on individual adaptive behavior. In the majority of the cases investigated the increase in perceived fatigue is linear, thus implying a very simple mechanism. The method of cross-modality matching is shortly discussed, mainly with respect ot the observed variability of the matches. (Author)
