BRUSHLESS DC STARTER-GENERATOR.
Abstract
A definition of best choice brushless starter-generator system was reached. The selected unit is in agreement with original technical requirements of this program. The machine design is supported by thermal evaluation by LSi/PED computer program and is nearing completion. Drawings will be released for fabrication of first prototype in the next reporting period. The DC switch evaluation program was concluded. Most of the devices tested performed as specified by their manufacturers but they are not suited for direct application to the static commutator as required by this program. The special requirements for the static commutator as required by this program were formulated and presented in LSi/PED Specification No. 15-100011. Conferences were held with various prospective semiconductor manufacturers in which our semiconductor requirements were stated in detail. Their quotes and technical proposals in response to our specification will be submitted to LSi/PED not later than August 15, 1967.
