FORMATTED FILE ORGANIZATION TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

There exist very few tools to guide the techniques developer or systems analyst in the evaluation of file organizations for accessing formatted files. A major goal of this project has been the study of all elements involved in evaluation from formatted file surveys through file system modeling to new techniques development. This study has resulted in the specification and creation of a system of procedures and programs for measuring both existing and new file organization methods. While emphasis has been placed on obtaining an integrated system, each of the individual areas explored Survey, Techniques and Model has been the source of information having independent value.
