INVESTIGATION OF DIGITAL CARTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES. VOLUME I. STUDY AND INVESTIGATION.

Abstract

A test bed for a flexible digital, cartographic system has been developed around a universal digital cartographic data base. The software developed by PRA to date includes: Preprocessing of digitized manuscripts and merging new data into the data base; Selective updating, including corrections, deletions insertions and revisions; Selective retrieval of point symbols, relief, and drainage from the data base; Selective plotting of point symbols, relief, and drainage; Manual editing of plotted charts; Automatic Chart revision in accordance with manual editing and instructions. The completed software represents a major step toward an automatic color separation system which forms a major component of cartographic systems. (Author)
