EVALUATION OF LOW-COST MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESSES FOR LARGE SOLID ROCKET NOZZLES--ANALYSIS OF PERFORMANCE, NOZZLE 9.
Abstract
This report describes the results of static test firings conducted to verify the performance of ablative nozzle components fabricated from low-cost material and/or using low-cost manufacturing processes. The throat approach was fabricated from a crocidolite asbestos fabric prepreg; the entrance cap from a codeposited carbon/silica fabric prepreg; the throat inlet from a double-thick carbon fabric prepreg; the throat from a low-cost carbon fabric prepreg; and the exit cone from SNAP cured silica prepreg.
