INVESTIGATION OF MAGNETICALLY INDUCED IONIZATION IN MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC GENERATORS.

Abstract

A brief summary is presented of the experimental investigation of magnetically induced ionization in magnetohydrodynamic generators carried out at the General Electric Company during the past nine months. The work was in two phases: (1) completion of 2 in. MHD shock tube research program; (2) construction of a large MHD generator facility.
