CPO Ambient Noise Study

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of a comprehensive analysis of the ambient seismic noise field existing at CPO. Results of this study have shown that the ambient noise field at CPO has not changed significantly over extended time periods, nor has it changed on a daily or seasonal basis. These results imply that an accurate modeling of the CPO noise field can be used to generate a multichannel filter set which can be used in a digital MCF processor to reject ambient noise throughout the year, except for periods of intense microseismic activity.
