CRT (TACTICAL).
Abstract
This interim technical report contains the results of the Item 1 study and investigation. Cathode ray tubes require improvements primarily in their physical properties for tactical field use, while retaining the high performance characteristics normal to CRT's operating in a less rugged environment. The study and investigation indicates that a short depth CRT (12 inches) with a wide deflection angle (100 degrees), low power deflection system (22 watts/axis), high deflection speed (10 micro sec. sweep and retrace times), lightweight (16 lbs. with CRT, laminated implosion shield, deflection yoke mount) and high resolution (10 mils spot size) can be achieved. Development of a CRT with these improved characteristics will provide military systems with a highly useful visual display device. (Author)
