HALF MILLIMETER 'BACKWARD WAVE OSCILLATOR'.

Abstract

The final objective of this work is to construct a half-millimeter Backward Wave Oscillator with a power level in the range of half-a-watt. A useful beam current of 10 - 14 mA over the ten to thirteen kilovolts range can now be transmitted through a tunnel of 60 microns in diameter. The problem of the line protection has been solved by making a screen of pyrolytic graphite, easy to be realized and which seems to be efficient enough. The power supply protecting system has also been improved. Tube tests shall follow shortly. (Author)
