NOTES ON MECHANICS IN FRANCE.

Abstract

This report is a heterogeneous collection of educational and research activities in northern France. The types of institution discussed vary from the government laboratory to the university, from the small department in a large university to an independent, smaller institute connected with a university as a formality. In particular, this report discusses the Institut de Sciences de l'Ingenieur of Nancy, ONERA, the Department of Mechanics at the University of Paris, the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Mecanique, Nantes.
