PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONS OF METALLIZED ALKYDS.

Abstract

Several alkyds were treated with aluminum enolates and titanium alkoxides. These compounds caused gel formation when incorporated into short linseed oil and medium safflower oil alkyds. A long linseed oil alkyd was prepared having a high acid number which was compatible with these compounds. The resultant metallized alkyd has a shorter drying time and greater apparent hardness than the unmetallized alkyds. (Author)
