STRUCTURE OF A METHODOLOGY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTIONS.

Abstract

This study was aimed at the development of a methodology for projecting political, economic, and social factors of national and international environmental systems with improved accuracy. The report defines the conceptual and functional structure of a Methodology of Environmental Projections (MEP). MEP is conceived as a system which links the following components: data bank, data processing techniques, projected data bank and selected sets of indicators, with a conceptually structured output. The output of MEP is intended for use in long-range technological planning for military systems requirements. The document also contains accounts of test case studies performed to validate key portions of the methodology. Descriptions and specifications for computer programs used in the methodologies, taxonomies of variables and indicators, and surveys of methodologies and methodological techniques are also included.
