DATA REDUCTION PROCEDURES FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CONVECTIVE SURFACE HEAT TRANSFER AND FLOW FRICTION CHARACTERISTIC -- STEAM-TO-AIR TEST CORES.
Abstract
This report describes the method of analysis of the test data to obtain the heat transfer and flow friction characteristics of compact heat exchanger surfaces. The surfaces are built into test cores designed for steam-to-air heat transfer testing. The necessary computing equations are derived, and computer programs for the basic data reduction are presented. Detailed sample calculations for one test are included. The tables used in conjunction with the computing procedure are listed, and a procedure for the steam side resistance correction for the heat transfer data is outlined. This report represents an up-to-date revision of the previous data reduction procedures. These revisions have been introduced primarily to facilitate the computerization of the data reduction.
