EVALUATION OF LOW-COST MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESSES FOR LARGE SOLID ROCKET NOZZLES--ANALYSIS OF PERFORMANCE, NOZZLE 10.

Abstract

This report describes the results of static test firings conducted to verify the performance of ablative nozzle components fabricated from low-cost materials and/or using low-cost manufacturing processes. The throat approach was fabricated from a crocidolite-asbestos-fabric prepreg; the one-piece entrance cap-throat inlet from a carbon fabric impregnated with epoxy-novolac; the throat from a standard carbon phenolic prepreg; and the exit cone from a kraft paper prepreg.
