RADIATION-EFFECTS TECHNOLOGY FOR MILITARY SPACE MISSIONS REQUIRING NUCLEAR ELECTRIC POWER.

Abstract

A program is presented which represents a systematic approach to the orderly development of radiation-effects technology for application to the design of future space systems employing nuclear electric power. A model system has been selected for study of the radiation-effects technology requirements necessary for the application of nuclear electric power in military space missions. Requirements for the initiation of the proposed program are outlined, and the methods for the presentation of program results to ensure utility in design are presented. A computer program for radiation damage analysis, which will be employed as a basic analytical tool in the existing technology, is outlined. (Author)
