A RESEARCH-ORIENTED SCANNING RADIOMETER.

Abstract

The report discusses the relationship of infrared source and background measurement to the design philosophy and specifications of a long-wave-length, infrared, background-limited area scanner. The scanner was designed principally to operate in the 8- to 14-micron atmospheric window, supplying both thermographic pictures and absolute-scene radiance values. Some examples of pictorial presentations are included. (Author)
