ALKALI METAL RESISTANT ELECTRICAL DEVICES.

Abstract

This report covers Alkali Metal Resistant Electrical Devices. Mechanical test data from specimens thermally aged for 2000 and 3000 hours are reported. High temperature magnetic data are given for 0.008-inch-thick Hiperco 27 alloy Rowland rings insulated with plasma-arc sprayed spherical alumina (99.9% Al2O3). Short term (200 hours) 850 C potassium vapor exposure tests are described. Parts for the 600 C transformers are shown. A special test container to study potassium-vapor ionization, visually and with instrumentation, is described.
