EVALUATION OF LOW-COST MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESSES FOR LARGE SOLID ROCKET NOZZLES. ANALYSIS OF PERFORMANCE, NOZZLE 11.

Abstract

This report describes the results of static test firings conducted to verify the performance of ablative nozzle components fabricated from low-cost materials and/or using low-cost manufacturing processes. The throat approach was fabricated from vacuum-bag-cured V-44 elastomeric insulation; the entrance cap from a Kraft paper composite; the throat inlet from carbon-phenolic; the throat from carbon-polyphenylene; the throat extension from silica-epoxy novolac and the exit extension from asbestos-epoxy novolac.
