RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN AMBIENT PRESSURE AND PITOT PRESSURE PROBE.
Abstract
Pressure gauges of various types, when coupled with suitable automatic monitoring and data transmission systems, become suitable for the unattended measurement of pressure at remote locations as on wind tunnel models and on the aerodynamic surfaces of manned or unmanned airplanes, missiles and rockets. The objective of the work under the contract herein reported is to develop a system of such a thermionic ionization pressure gauge with the associated automatic electronic monitoring device such that the system is capable of measuring pressure over the range 1/300,000 to 1.0 mm of mercury, and such that the system has signal outputs of 0 to +5 volts suitable for introduction into a standard telemeter system. The equipment shall be suitable for installation by the contractee in any aerodynamic configuration which is compatible with the size of the sensing head and the specified acceleration limitations.
