DIELECTRICS FOR HIGH ENERGY STORAGE CAPACITORS.

Abstract

An investigation of the limits of accuracy and reproducibility of film dielectric constant has shown that, for films with a thickness of 1 mil or greater, the previously report accuracy of 20 percent is correct and that the lot-to-lot reproducibility is good. The dielectric strength and leakage current reproducibility however, is not well defined. A study of loaded polymer-Mylar 'sandwiches' has shown that this approach may have possibilities for use in high-energy storage capacitors. Presintering of BaTiO3 powders to increase the dielectric constants of loaded film has not proved successful. (Author)
