ELECTRONICALLY TUNABLE ZNY FILTERS.

Abstract

This report summarizes the work done from March 1 to June 15, 1967 on electronically tunable ZnY filters. Experiments have been performed which go a long way towards verifying theoretical expressions derived in the previous interim report for external and unloaded Q factors. The most recent MnZnY runs exhibit linewidths varying from 21-29 oe. over the 26-40 GHz band; a possible explanation for the frequency trend is presented in conjunction with a study of the spin-wave manifold for MnZnY. Since it appears that relatively small spheres will have to be used to avoid magnetostatic and dimensional resonances, the design and performance of an enhanced coupling structure is discussed.
