ON THE ALBEDO OF A WATER SURFACE (A VIZFELSZIN ALBEDOJAROI).

Abstract

Reflectivity measurements were conducted over the water surface of lake Balaton (at Siofok) between 1 Jul and 31 Oct 1962 with the aid of a Janisevszkij pyranometer. Variations in the albedo were determined on the basis of the results obtained. The relations between the albedo and the solar elevation as well as the effects of surface waves were discussed by using measured and calculated values. Albedo values for calm water were compared for clear and overcast ceiling conditions. It was judged that the effects of water transparency and color on the albedo values are insignificant.
