RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ON COMPACT ARC NEAR INFRA-RED RADIATION SOURCES

Abstract

This is the final technical report on the analysis, investigation and fabrication of prototype compact arc sources directed towards substantially increasing the infra-red radiance in the 0.85 to 1.5 micron region over pure xenon lamps of equal wattage. The report includes all design and fabrication techniques for the construction of synthetic sapphire envelope cesium-xenon, rubidium-xenon, cesium-mercury-xenon short arc lamps. Spectral irradiance and radiance measurements are included and compared to pure xenon lamps operating at equal wattage.
