BASIC SHAPES FOR AEROSPACE STRUCTURES. PHASE II SUPPLEMENT. UTILIZATION POTENTIAL.

Abstract

A utilization study, supplementary to Phase II of the basic shapes program, clearly established the full usefulness of the basic shape concept in the aerospace industry, primary as well as secondary, on the basis of an industry survey and a formal conference with carefully selected top representatives of various industry sectors. It is concluded that the basic shape concept will be equally useful in industry and government, and that the extent of utilization in the industry will surpass government utilization. The ultimate objective, the advancement of systems capabilities by means of accelerated progress in technology, will be achieved through the activation of requirement-oriented R and D programs in the primary and secondary industry as well as in research institutions.
