SYMPOSIUM ON TESTING TECHNIQUES IN SHIP CAVITATION RESEARCH, TRONDHEIM, NORWAY, 31 MAY TO 2 JUNE 1967.

Abstract

The Symposium was arranged by the Norwegian Ship Model Experiment Tank in Trondheim on the occasion of the official opening of the Cavitation Laboratory. The papers presented dealt with the many problems encountered in the testing of model propellers under cavitation conditions, such as instrumentation, wall effects, the influence of polymers in the water, erosion, the forces on a propeller blade and noise effects, and with the difficult question of correlation between model and ship behavior, with particular reference to the correct prediction of ship cavitation patterns from model experiments.
