HIGH PERFORMANCE FUEL CELL.

Abstract

The objective of this contract is to develop the technology required for a High Performance Fuel Cell power system for future Air Force space vehicles. During this reporting period, progress was made in the fabrication of two experimental 28-volt fuel cell stacks, and in associated test plans and test set-up preparations. Assistance was provided to the Aero Propulsion Laboratory in their testing of a 16-cell stack which was delivered in June. A number of small stacks were built and tested at Allis-Chalmers to evaluate electrodes, stack tolerances, and assembly methods. Progress was also made in the development of a stack design sufficiently light in weight to permit achievement of the system energy-to-weight ratio goal. (Author)
