DESIGN OF CODES AND DECODING PROCEDURES FOR SEQUENTIAL DECODING SYSTEMS.
Abstract
Work in sequential decoding systems has been dominated and shaped by the fundamental contributions of Wozencraft and of Fano. Their work has demonstrated the potential usefulness of the class of convolutional codes in which one message digit at a time is encoded in a manner which depends upon a certain number gamma - 1 of previous digits.
