DRAG AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF FLEXIBLE SUPERSONIC DECELERATOR MODELS AT MACH NUMBERS FROM 2 TO 6

Abstract

The drag and stability characteristics of flexible supersonic decelerator models at various positions aft of double-strut mounted forebodies were investigated in the 40-in. supersonic tunnel of the von Karman Gas Dynamics Facility. Data were obtained at Mach numbers from 2 to 6 at dynamic pressures corresponding to pressure altitudes which ranged from 94,000 to 153,000 ft. Selected typical results are presented.
