ELECTRONICALLY TUNABLE DIODE OSCILLATOR.

Abstract

This report describes the investigation of the use of a polycrystalline yttrium iron garnet toroid to electronically tune the frequency of an avalanche transit-time oscillator. The microwave characteristics of an electronically tunable diode oscillator consisting of a radial mode cavity loaded by an avalanch diode and YIG toroid are presented. Electronic tuning ranges approaching 3000 MHz with cw output power greater than 1 mW have been achieved. (Author)
