SOLID-STATE SWITCH DEVELOPMENT.

Abstract

A miniature of solid-state comb-line switch has been developed which comes close to meeting all of the initial design goals. The switch, designed to operate in a circulator duplexer configuration, provides a 2-db bandwidth of 1000 MHz with greater than 10-db isolation. Over 90% of this band, the isolation is greater than 15 db. In the circulator configuration, the overall isolation would be well above the specified 20-db level. Diode power measurements indicate that both the specified peak and average power levels can be safely handled. Waveguide switch structures were considered and were found to be unable to provide sufficient bandwidth. (Author)
