EVALUATION OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF 9NI-4CO FORGINGS.

Abstract

The objective of the program is to evaluate forgings of 9Ni-4Co-0.30C and 9Ni-4Co-0.45C (bainitic) so that these steels may be effectively used for future Air Force Weapons Systems. Data from tensile, compression, shear, and bearing tests are to be combined with data from the literature and then analyzed to establish design allowables. To further characterize the steels fatique, fracture toughness, stress corrosion, thermal stability, and notched tensile data are to be presented.
