DIGITAL-ANALOG SERVO SYSTEM XN-2 THEORY OF OPERATION AND CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION.

Abstract

This report describes the operation of the new digital-analog servo system (DASS) XN-2, which was specifically designed and built to be used in the experimental digital fire control facility being constructed at the Naval Weapons Center. The main function of DASS XN-2 is to serve as the control link between the general-purpose digital fire control computer CP-789/UYK (UNIVAC 1218B) and the guided missile launcher Mk 5 Mod 1, which was modified for 400-cps synchro operation. DASS XN-2 can also be used to control the digitized Nike Ajax tracking radar for computer-designated target acquisition. (Author)
