SOLID STATE LASER DEVICES.

Abstract

This report describes the following work: (1) Characterization of a high-brightness, high-powered ruby laser oscillator-amplifier system. The characteristics of this system are: pulsewidth, 10 nanoseconds; pulse energy, 10.5 joules; beam angle, 0.33 milliradians; peak brightness, 2.5 x 10 to the 15th power watts/sq cm steradian. (2) Characteristics of a CW YAlG:Nd(3+) laser. (3) Study of second harmonic generation using a YAlG:Nd(3+) laser and a LiNbO3 frequency doubler.
