HYPERENVIRONMENTAL RADOME EVALUATION TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

A facility has been developed to perform R.F. testing on radomes up to 2500 F. The quartz lamp radiant heating system was fabricated and tests demonstrated a heat flux of over 36 Btu/sq ft/sec. Chrome-oxide coatings were tested and verified that the emissivity of test radomes could be increased enough to get approximately 10% higher test temperatures. Radomes up to 18 inches in diameter by 3 feet long may be tested at elevated temperatures for transmission losses, reflection coefficient, loss tangent, boresight error, and dielectric constnat at frequencies up to 25 Gc.
