A STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTRA AND SUBSTITUENT PROPERTIES FOR MONO- AND DISUBSTITUTED BENZENES.

Abstract

Results of exact analyses of the proton spectra of nine mono-substituted benzenes are presented and discussed with regard to molecular and substituent properties. Solvent effects on m-nitroaniline and m-nitrochlorobenzene determined by spectral analysis indicate that published conclusions regarding the proton-proton coupling constants of some meta substituted benzenes are unwarranted. The 19F and 13C spectra of fluorobenzene and results from their analyses are also presented. (Author)
