NATO ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE ON 'STRUCTURE OF THE LOWER ATMOSPHERE AND ELECTRO-MAGNETIC WAVE PROPAGATION.

Abstract

Three years ago, a small group of scientists concerned with the effects of the lower atmosphere on communications met in Greece under NATO sponsorship. Since many of the problems in this field are still with us today, the NATO Advisory Panel on Radio Meteorology sponsored a NATO Advanced Study Institute at the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth during the period 2 to 16 September 1967. The subject receiving the attention of about 75 physicists, mathematicians, meteorologists and engineers from 12 countries was Structure of the Lower Atmosphere and Electromagnetic Wave propagation. The primary purpose of the Institute was to survey, through lectures and discussions a wide range of topics in lower atmosphere physics and wave propagation. In this report an attempt is made to provide a short account of each of the lectures attended by the author. (Author)
